It's a bit clunky as a tablet because you don't detach the keyboard so it's heavy. This is a brilliant design, better I think than the Book. The Brydge keyboard/cases are brilliant, have better keyboards, and a Surface Pro with a Brydge is a lighter and more versatile replacement for the Book.Īlternatively, consider the Surface Laptop Studio. If you want it not just to be a "laptop" but a real laptop - that doesn't require a kickstand to hold up the display - then buy a Brydge keyboard for it. If you want a device that serves both as a "laptop" and as a tablet, then get a Surface Pro 9. I think killing the product line in the long run makes sense. If I'd never had the SB2 I'd have been thrilled with the SB3. But I returned the SB3 fairly quickly because I just didn't see enough improvement over the SB2 to justify the upgrade. I bought the SB2, and then upgraded to SB3 when that came out. When I got mine, I thought it was the most amazing computer I'd ever owned - until I caved in and bought a Surface Studio 2 (which I'm typing on right now).īasic answer to your question is: Surface Book is (was) a great product. Well, it does look like they've decided that the Surface Book line has no future.
